I am currently the licensure area leader for secondary mathematics teacher preparation at Michigan State, and hold an appointment as the Associate Director of Mathematics Education for the CREATE for STEM Institute. .
I am also President-Elect of the Michigan Association for Mathematics Teacher Educators.
My past service has included serving as co-editor with Dr. Sandra Crespo from 2014-2018 for the Mathematics Teacher Educator journal, co-chaired the 37th annual conference for the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education - North America chapter, serving as the electronics board member on the AERA Special Interest Group: Research in Mathematics Education Executive Board as well as an At-Large member of the steering committee for the North American chapter of the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PMENA).
In addition to service for our teacher preparation program and for my scholarly community, I am actively involved in service to schools. I regularly present at the Michigan Council for Teachers of Mathematics conference. In 2012, I worked with a local mathematics department at Holt High School to obtain an NEA Foundation Grant to conduct cross-grade level lesson study to develop their practice to engage students in the Common Core Standard for Mathematical Practice on problem solving.
