I am an associate professor of mathematics education at Michigan State University

I research HOW structures, such as lesson study, for supporting teachers in developing a practice that fosters engagement in mathematical practices and how learning manifests from such teacher collaboration.

I also research the engagement of middle school students in mathematical argumentation, including justifying and proving.

As a teacher educator, I am particularly interested in understanding what prospective teachers learn through experiences which allow them to approximate authentic teaching practice.

More information about my teaching, research, and service, including announcements about my most recent work, can be found in the tabs at the top of this page. Also, for a complete summary of my work, please see my CV.
